KP Provincial government distributes free plants in Chitral

CHITRAL:  Free plants distribution for farm forestry ceremony held at forest nursery Drosh, some 45 KM from Chitral. Member Provincial Assembly Saleem Khan was chief guest on the occasion while the ceremony was presided over by Qazi Mushtaq Ahmad, Conservator Malakand Division.

Addressing on the occasion,  Divisional Forest Officer, Muhammad Saleem Marwat said that the initiative was taken by provincial government for free distribution of plants for Farm under Billion Trees Afforestation,  in which billions of nursery would be planted.

Conservator forest department Qazi Mushtaq stressed upon the public to ensure plantation for future generation. He said that the provincial government grants Rs. 44 per plant to the public and will purchase saplings on reasonable price.

Addressing the ceremony  Haji Sultan, Sher Habib, Akmal Bhutto and others stressed that every year 55000 mound oak trees are cut in lower Chitral and supplied to upper areas. They suggested complete ban on cutting green trees. They said that a mafia is hell-bent on cutting Deodar trees while it takes hundreds of years for Deodar to grow.

SDFO Drosh Umair Nawaz, SDFO  Abdul Majeed, MPA Saleem Khan, DFO Saleem Marwat, Conservator  Qazi  Mushtaq distributed  50000 free plants among the people and representatives of different areas who also planted sapling at Drosh nursery.

A large number of representatives of different village councils, civil societies, politicians, social workers participated in the free plants distribution function..
