13 Security forces were killed in an attack inflicted by Afghan Militants in Upper Dir region of North-Western Pakistan. An Army spokesman confirmed the causalities. According to District Police Officer Dir some 100 Afghan militants entered into Pakistani territory and attacked a contingent of on-patrol soldiers and some check posts. He also confirmed that few soldiers have gone missing and it is apprehend that Taliban have captured them.
A Military officer said that about 100 militants entered into the Pakistani territory and opened fire indiscriminately on the soldiers. They were challenged and more than 14 bad-guys have been killed. He claimed that about 6 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the encounter. Another source claimed that some 11 soldiers went missing— 7 are feared dead and 4 are believed to be in the keeping of the militants. The DPO said that the attack was latest in the continued cross-border terrorism from Afghan side.
The military officer disclosed that Lower Dir has also been attacked and two rockets were fired on the Pakistani territory from inside Afghanistan. “Pakistan Military has expressed its concern and has recorded its protest with officials in Afghanistan”, he added.
Talking to foreign media on telephone, the spokesman of TTP, Siraj Uddin has taken responsibly of killing. He claimed that they [TTP] have attacked Barawal Banda and have killed 18 security forces. He also claimed to have bodies of the dead Pakistani soldiers.
