Abdul Razzaq Wins the Day for Pakistan

With a century and some seriously calm batting prowess, Abdul Razzaq came through in a big way for Pakistan in an ODI against South Africa on Sunday.

The October 31 match played in Abu Dhabi looked like another defeat for Pakistan in what has turned out to be very bad cricketing times for the country recently. But Razzaq put on a batting clinic, pulling out a victory with one ball and one wicket to spare.

Razzaq had a close call in the last over, when it seemed for a split second that he was caught out by AB de Villiers. It just added to the drama. But it turned out to be Raazaq’s night. He dominated South Africa’s bowling attack, hitting 10 sixes during an unbeaten stint with the bat.

In the end, he racked up a total of 109 off of 72 balls, turning up the heat in the last three overs. Pakistan needed a cricket hero. And it is fitting that after the team’s bowling attack had been dismantled after the spot-fixing scandal, a saviour is found with a bat in his hand.
