Gilgit-Baltistan Independence Day
The celebrations of Gilgit-Baltistan Independence Day kicked off on Monday.
A flag-raising ceremony was observed at Chinar Bagh to mark the day and to pay tributes to the great heroes and martyrs, of the region, who made great sacrifices to liberate the nation from the Dogra Raj on November 1, 1948.
Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Wazir Baig, Chief Minister, Mehdhi Shah, Chief Justice Supreme Appellate Court, Mohamad Nawaz and other members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Council were among the participants.
An engaging week with Spontaneous Music, jubilant dancing, sizzling games and colourful cultural shows will follow the Day.
A Polo (the national game of the region) tournament started alongside where several of the local teams will fight to prove themselves, the best.
