Chitral— Residents of Rumboor (Kalash valley) are jubilant over their newly constructed Charso, a unique platform that they will be using for their worship and cultural activities at Rumbor Valley in Chitral. The Charso facility was contracted with financial support of Chitral Integrated Area Development Program (CIADP) in collaboration with Ayun and Valley Development program (AVDP).
The facility was inaugurated by Rahmatullha Wazir, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Chitral. The new Charso was completed with a cost of 3.30 million rupees— the construction work was solely undertaken by the community under the supervision of AVDP.
CIADP also has completed some other projects and here they announced more developmental Schemes for the year 2012. Addressing to the opening ceremony of newly constructed Charso Asfandiar Khan, Program coordinator said that CIADP was keenly interested in the development of rural areas like Kalash valleys. He said that several projects were already completed and efforts are underway to complete the remaining projects.
DCO Chitral thanked Norwegian and Netherland government for their generous donations for the development of this remote district. He also assured Kalash community of support in preserving their culture. Traditional gifts, according to Kalash, culture were presented to the guests.
Chairman AVDP Muhkamuddin, Program Manager Wazir Zada Kalash, Saifullah Kalash, Barzangi Kalash, Luk Rahmat Kalash and other spoke on the occasion. Towards the end of the ceremonial program, Kalash women presented traditional and cultural dance in the honour of their distinguished guests. A large number of people from both Muslim and Kalash community participated in the opening ceremony of the newly constructed Charso.
Charso is a platform of Kalash Community which they used both for worship and ceremonial and cultural activities.
