Open University to set Regional Campus in Chitral

DR. Nazir Ahmad Sangi, VC of Allama Iqbal  Open University (AIOU), is on a 5-day visit to Chitral. Here he met District Coordinating Office (DCO) Chitral and hinted to open a regional campus in the region. He offered the DCO an investment of 100 million rupees to facilitate establishment of a regional campus, provided the district administration ensures a piece of land for the construction purpose.

‘’The setup of a regional campus will help in the facilitation of video conferences, workshops, trainings etc. The campus will also be used as Study and Examination Center.”  He said.

It was agreed to take the matter to the Chief Sectary of KPK so that a land acquisition could be ensured.

DCO Chitral proposed to initiate a course for Religious Madrassas so that students in those institutions can keep on with their patriotism. The VC vowed to bring about some modifications for that purpose. He hinted that the University will start region specific courses such as tourism management, handicraft, live-stock management etc.

The VC also visited the Historic Kalash Valley. He met different students of Bumborat and assured them that a separate regional coordinator will be appointed for Kalash Valleys. He announced that six regional coordinators will be appointed to work in the region.

He was given a warm, typical Chitral hospitality here in the city.
