UBL announces Literary Excellence Awards 2014

Karachi: The United Bank Limited Pakistan (UBL) has announced the Literary Excellence Awards for the year 2014 and according to the details, Ayesha Jalal, the well-known writer was declared winner of the English Non-fiction award for her book “The Pity of Partition” while Dr. Najeeb Jamal was nominated for Urdu Nonfiction award for his book “Yagana” .  Likewise, Khursheed Rizvi and Hassan Manzar were declared winners of Urdu poetry and Urdu Fiction for the books Deeryaab and Insan, Aye Insan, respectively.

Moreover, Rumana Hussain was declared winner of the Urdu Children’s Literature award for her book Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan. Lailamah Gesselle Khan won the award for English Children’s Literature for the book “The Euro Journey of Lailamah Gesselle Khan”. Also Afzaal Ahmad Saeed got selected for the award in Urdu translation “Divan-e-Mir” .   

According to the information shared by the UBL, the Literary Excellence Awards’ is an initiative with the objective to encourage new writers and appreciate the ones who have rendered their services towards Urdu and English literature in Pakistan.
