USEFP announces the Fulbright Scholarship 2015 for Master’s and PhD programmes

The United States Education Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has announced Master’s and PhD Degree Scholarship Programme for the year 2015. The 2015 Fulbright Scholarship media launch took place today, on Tuesday here in Islamabad. On this occasion, US Embassy and USEFP officials briefed the media about the eligibility criteria and prioritized fields of study for the said scholarship.

According to the eligibility criteria set by the officials, the candidates applying for the Master’s degree must have a four-year Bachelor’s degree or 16 years Master’s degree and for the PhD program, an applicant must have an MPhil or an 18 years Master’s degree. Applicants can apply for any discipline other than clinical medicine, however, Energy, Water and Agriculture are the priority fields.
According to a flyer shared by the foundation, the deadline for Fulbright intake 2015, is May 14, 2014 and all applicants have been advised that the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for all and according to the new scoring system, a minimum score of 274 in General GRE; 138 in verbal and 136 in quantitative section is mandatory.
Likewise, women applicants, persons with some disability, persons from minorities, from remote areas like interior Sindh, Balochistan, AJK and Gilgit-Balistan and FATA have been encouraged to apply and avail of the opportunity to win the said prestigious scholarship.

“It’s hoped that we’d receive applications from graduates of every HEC-recognized university of Pakistan in order to avail this scholarship”, said USEFP Executive Director. Judith Ravin, the Deputy Cultural Affair Officer was of the view that the U.S. invests more in Fulbright Pakistan than anywhere else in the world. “For 64 years, the Fulbright scholarship program between the United States and Pakistan has fulfilled the dream of its founder: turning nations into people through educational exchange” she added while talking on this occasion of media launch, Fulbright Programme 2015.

Alumni of the Fulbright scholarship programme attended the event and shared their experience. They encouraged the new applicants to apply as they stated that Fulbright programme is a life changing opportunity and one can realize this only when he/she becomes part of it.
